The 2023 Holiday tours of Laurel Hill Mansion start on Thursday, November
30th.
As always entrance to Laurel Hill Mansion is free for the members of Women for Greater Philadelphia.
Special 2023 Holiday Events at Laurel Hill Mansion
November 30th | Laurel Hill Mansion opens for the Holidays Tours |
December 1st, 2nd & 3rd | Tea will be served on and the Gift Shop open |
December 8th, 9th & 10th | Tea will be served on and the Gift Shop open |
December 10th 12:30-2:30 P.M. | Demonstration of Drop Spindling, a process used in the 18th century |
December 15th, 16th & 17th | Tea will be served on and the Gift Shop open |
December 16th | Welcome America Free Museum Day, Laurel Hill Mansion welcomes families for a fun filled day of craftings (colonial crafts of tin punching, whirligig and more ) |
December 28th, 29th & 30th | Last chance to see the 2023 Holiday decorations at Laurel Hill Mansion |
Help is needed on December 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th &
17th from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Should you wish to dress in Period Costume it will bring added interest to the Holiday tours. There are some dresses available at Laurel Hill Mansion.

Don Shump of the Philadelphia Bee Co. spoke passionately explains how honey bee colonies work, the job of a Beekeeper, and why bees are such an integral part of our environment. Everyone came away with a new-found understanding and respect for bees and their beneficial contribution to the world around us.

The 2023 National Women’s History Theme is Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories
The Board of Women for Greater Philadelphia thanks Amanda Owen for being our 2023 Women’s History Month Speaker.
Amanda Owen is an author and an independent scholar of women’s history, specializing in the American women’s suffrage movement. She is a co-founder and the Executive Director of the Justice Bell Foundation.

Trudy Haynes
1926 -2022
Women for Greater Philadelphia founding member and broadcast journalism
pioneer, Trudy Haynes has died at 95.
Included among the awards and honors she received are an Emmy, 1995, two lifetime achievement awards, as well as honors from the NAACP and United Way. She was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia’s Hall of Fame in 1999.
She was honored at the Women for Greater Philadelphia 2016 Women's History Month Program with six of her fellow founders of the organization for their 40 year commitment.
